Emergency Travel Document

Emergency Travel Document (ETD) is issued to Pakistani nationals who need to travel to Pakistan urgently in exceptional circumstances. It may be issued when a passport is lost, expired, unavailable, or when the applicant is not eligible for the issuance or renewal of a passport.

Applicants must provide documentary proof of a genuine emergency for the issuance of an Emergency Travel Document.

Requirements for Emergency Travel Document
  • Proof of emergency (e.g., serious illness or death of an immediate family member)
  • Duly completed and signed application form
  • Four recent identical passport-size photographs with white background
  • Original expired Pakistani passport with photocopy
  • If the passport is lost: copy of the passport (if available) and police report confirming the loss
  • Air ticket booking, preferably with Pakistan International Airlines (PIA)
  • Valid NADRA Card with photocopy

Applicants under 18 years of age:

  • Both parents must accompany the applicant
  • Parents must bring original identity documents
  • Detailed birth certificate showing names of both parents

Affidavit stating:

  • Date of last entry into the United Kingdom
  • Visa category under which entry to the UK was granted
  • Explanation of circumstances of visa overstay (if applicable)
  • Confirmation that no case is pending with the Home Office or Police

If a case is pending with the Home Office, one of the following must be provided:

  • Home Office letter showing case reference number
  • Home Office refusal letter
Emergency Travel Document Application Process
  1. No appointment is required. Applicants may visit the Consulate on any working day during consular service hours.
  2. Inform security about the purpose of your visit and proceed to the waiting area.
  3. When called, approach the consular counter where the officer will review your documents.
  4. If the application is accepted, you will receive a Challan (payment receipt) for the required fee.
  5. Pay the fee at the designated bank counter and return to the consular counter with the payment receipt.
  6. The officer will receive your documents and issue a final receipt, informing you about the collection date and time.
  7. Collect your Emergency Travel Document from the Consular Section on the specified date.
  8. Before leaving, carefully check all personal details on the document.
